Maine Healthcare Engineers' summer picnic 2010

The monthly meeting was held June 18, 2010 at Bailey Island on the Maine Seacoast. The menu included lobster, steak, salads and desserts as well as Bob Lord’s homemade French fries.

There was no formal business meeting. The invitation went to all MHES members and the NEHES President. There were good numbers of MHES members, family, several vendors, and guests present.

Bob Lord (retired Director of Plant Operations at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick), Don Garrison, FASHE, CHFM (retired Chief of Facility Management Franklin County Health Network), and Ron Vachon, SASHE, CHFM, Director of Facilities Management at Lincoln County Healthcare, coordinated the event with the help of many of the MHES members, led by MHES President Brian Delong, CHFM and Vice-President Mike Connolly, CHFM.

This was an excellent time to network, cultivate professional relationships, interact with vendors and give back to the Society.

Commitment by Facilities Managers, Engineers, and Directors to the healthcare mission was evident. Both Milt Dudley and Brian Delong were scheduled to attend but were called by their healthcare organizations to a mandatory Leadership Workout. They were missed but the Society appreciated the professional commitment they demonstrated in putting responsibility into perspective and fulfilling company obligations first.

The next meeting will be September 24, 2010.

Discussion included Supporting Member Liaison efforts by Don Garrison to keep partners and associates communications successful.

Respectfully submitted,

Randy J. Hussey, CHFM, CFPS
